igus has developed a new innovative separator system for the E4.1L. This makes it particularly easy to insert shelves over several levels for customised interior separation. Of course, the new separator system is also being tested in the igus test laboratory.
igus has compared its E4.48L e-chain® made of plastic with a competitor's product in a comparison test in the industry's largest test laboratory in Cologne. Both chains were assessed in terms of their load capacity for unsupported length, breakage and their behaviour under tensile forces:
| e-chain E4.48L | Competitors | |
|---|---|---|
| Inner/Outer height | 48mm/64mm | 40mm/62mm |
| Inner/Outer width | 105mm/125mm | 67mm/76mm |
| Pitch | 67mm | 76mm |
| Weight per metre | 1.73kg | 2.08kg |

Load capacity with unsupported length
Test setup: Both chains are suspended without support over 1.8m with an additional weight of 5kg/m.
Result: Compared to the neutral line, the competition chain sagged 6mm more than the E4.48L.

Behaviour with tensile forces
Test setup: Both chains are clamped in a fixture in the test laboratory and tension is applied to both ends simultaneously.
Result: The E4.48L can withstand 86% more tensile strength than the competitor's chain.

Breakage test
Test set-up: In the breakage test, the unsupported chain is loaded from above. The additional load is increased until the chain breaks.
Result: The E4.48L can withstand 45% more additional load than the competitor's chain.
