The telescopic triflex® R TRX combines the triflex® R energy chain and retraction system in one. This combination enables space-saving installation with length compensation of the e-chain of up to 36%. The length compensation also prevents loop formation on the robot. The round shape of the 'easy' design is robust and makes it possible to insert and remove harnessed cables easily.

Telescopic and twistable combined in one e-chain

The TRX complements the functions of the triflex R series and now makes it telescopic
Thanks to their patented design, the TRX chain links allow length compensation of up to 36% without losing their connection to each other or their torsion resistance.
The rubber band inside the TRX always returns the chain links to their starting point and the retraction force can be adjusted via the rubber band.
Weight reduction of up to 83% compared to a solution with a retraction system (RSP).
The TRX design study is currently 100% compatible with TRE.60.087.0.B, with further chain sizes to follow.

Cable guidance in the TRX

Since cables or hoses cannot elongate to the same extent as the e-chains, they are laid inside the TRX according to a specific principle (see image on the right). In addition, the cables and hoses are secured again in the centre of the TRX so that they do not move out of position when the chain is pulled.
Thanks to the special arrangement of the cables and their additional strain relief in the centre of the TRX, the filling can perform the length compensation of the e-chain without any problems.

The proof

The triflex® R TRX in the igus test laboratory
The TRX is currently in its final testing phase in our in-house test laboratory. The image shows the TRE.60.B size, in which the TRX will be available first.
The first 7-8 chain links (starting from axis 6) are normal TRE.60.087.0.B chain links. The rest of the e-chain is made of the new telescopic TRX e-chain.
